OUR TEAM

Inessa was born from a shared belief: that jewelry should do more than adorn — it should express, empower, and endure.

Our founder, Yasho Costa Rao, grew up in India and has called the U.S. home for over 35 years. Inessa is her way of weaving two worlds together — honoring the artistry and symbolism of her Indian heritage while embracing the refined sensibilities of Western design. Yasho created Inessa as a labor of love after a successful career in marketing and data analytics. Her passion lies in crafting jewelry that is not only beautiful but deeply meaningful.

She is joined by Paola Martinez, a seasoned jewelry executive with experience at houses like David Yurman and Swarovski. A lifelong believer in the personal nature of adornment, Paola sees each piece as a quiet storyteller — a marker of love, strength, or memory — and brings that philosophy into every facet of creation.

Our third co-founder, Abhay Kishwan, is the creative force behind our designs. A rising talent in the jewelry world, he has worked on fantastical pieces for Bollywood films and opulent Indian weddings. At Inessa, he channels that grandeur into a sculptural, modern aesthetic — fusing rich cultural expression with minimalist form.

A Note on Heritage

While Inessa is proudly American, our roots run deep. Our founder's grandmother was an artist in 1950s India, known for the fantastical jewelry she designed. Her signature pieces featured Ceylonese sapphires set in 22-karat gold. These weren't just beautiful objects. They were declarations of independence in a traditional world.
